Kallam Anji Reddy is an Indian entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical industry, the founder of Dr Reddy's Labs.
He spent his early years in the village of Tadepalli in Guntur District, where his father grew turmeric. Reddy graduated from the local high school and went on to get his first bachelor of science degree from A.C College at Guntur City in 1958 [1].
Dr Reddy holds a B.Sc.-Tech in Pharmaceuticals and Fine chemicals from Bombay University and a PhD in chemical engineering from the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune (1969).
CareerHe served in the state-owned Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (1969-1975), was founder and managing director of Uniloids Ltd (1976-1980) and Standard Organics Limited (1980-1984), before founding Dr Reddy’s Labs in 1984.

Among the new generation of Technocrat entrepreneurs, KVK occupied a unique position in many respects - unique in background, unique in entrepreneurial approach and unique in personal qualities. He was a perfect combination of a self-made professional manager-cum-entrepreneur with an extraordinary human touch.
Mr K V K Raju was born on November 28, 1928 in a humble agricultural family. He was neither heir to any industrial empire nor a protege of an industrial baron. Mr Raju was a self-made man. The uncompromising integrity and honesty of his father and the tender geniality of his mother made an indelible impression on the young KVK's character. The tutelage under Swami Nishreyasananda at Tanuku in West Godavari District, helped to mould his personality. Mr Duncan Grindley, a high school teacher in Ramakrishna Mission played an important role in infusing confidence in Mr Raju.
After graduating from Banaras Hindu University and the Madras Institute of Technology, Mr Raju pursued his higher education at Michigan State University and the University of Minnesota of USA in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The urge to serve his country, inculcated in his youth by India's freedom movement in which several of his family members had participated, made him to return to India, after a short stint in American Industry.
In India, Mr Raju had brief stints at Caltex Oil Refinery, Orient General Industries and Associated Electrical Industries. Finally, he joined a multinational company, Union Carbide of India, in which he served for 15 years. It was while working with Union Carbide that his deep-rooted urge to contribute to the industrial development of the country impelled him to plunge into entrepreneurship.
Mr Raju launched the Nagarjuna Group with Nagarjuna Steel Company in 1976. The Group has now become a multi-million corporate conglomerate with diversified business interests in agri-businesses like fertilizers, pesticides, micro irrigation systems and agri exports and steel, finance and energy sectors.
The commissioning of the Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (NFCL) in Kakinada is a monumental testimony to his indefatigable spirit. Mr Raju was a firm believer in the principle of "Service to Society through Industry". Under his stewardship, the Nagarjuna Group has practicsed the concept of trusteeship and excellence in all its spheres. The natural ecological systems developed around the manufacturing facilities at Kakinada and Srikakulam stand testimony to his great concern for Nature and his vision of making 'Industry in Harmony with Nature'.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to industry and society, Mr Raju was conferred 'Doctor of Science' by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU). He was also the recipient of many other awards like the Manager of the Year,Professor Y Nayudamma Memorial Gold Medal, Udyog Ratna Award and Dr K L Rao Award for Excellence.
Even after his demise on Novermber 16, 1993, the Nagarjuna Group continues with its commitment to the vision and values set by Mr K V K Raju.

Ramoji Group - Cherukuri Ramoji Rao

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, better known as Ramoji Rao (b. 16 November 1936) is an Indian businessman and entrepreneur in the media business. He is head of the Ramoji Group which owns, among others, the world's largest film production facility [1] called Ramoji film city. Film city is situated near Hayathnagar; about 25 kms from Hyderabad on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway.
Rao was born in Gudivada, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, into a rich agricultural family. Some of the companies owned by the Ramoji group include Margadarsi Chit Fund, Eenadu newspaper, ETV, Priya Foods, Ushakiron Movies and as mentioned above, the Ramoji Film City near Hyderabad.

He is an entrepreneur who has set standards in the print, television and the film industry. This media baron has also left a mark in the Chit Fund Industry through his Margadarshi Chit Fund. Well who can forget his very old 'Priya Pickles' which is still in everyone's lips even till this day. But it is his venture into the media that has made him one of the most powerful persons in the state and indeed he has got an empire like that of Rupert Murdock in this part of the World.It was in 1974, that he started EENADU, a Telugu Daily from Vishakapatnam. It was an instant success followed by many editions of the Newspaper in different placessss. Later he diversified his group into food products, hotels, financial services, advertising, handicrafts etc.
RamojiRao entered the filed of film production in 1983 by establishing Usha Kiron Movies. Heproduced films like Pratighatana, Mayuri and Sitara which were super hits.

A trained cardiologist with international experience, Dr. Reddy worked at the Missouri State Chest Hospital, where he headed several research programs. The absence of world-class medical facilities in India spurred him to set up the first Apollo Hospital in Chennai in 1983, at a time when private healthcare institutions were virtually unknown in India. Over the years, Dr. Reddy has been able to attract the best medical talent to India including doctors from hospitals in the US and UK. He has also been instrumental in bringing several regulatory changes that relate to licensing, ceasing of import restrictions, permission for organ transplants, etc. Dr. Reddy’s pioneering approach and tireless efforts have contributed significantly to the emergence of the private healthcare sector in India. For his contributions, Dr. Reddy was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1991.
Dr. Pratap Reddy came to India after serving as the Chief Resident of the Worcenter City Hospital in the US to start his practice in Madras with a modest earning of Rs 100/- per day. The idea to establish Apollo Group of Hospitals came when Dr. Reddy lost a patient who couldn't make it to Texas for an open heart surgery.
